HERE TO SERVE
Mitch Rosenwald is proud to live in Oakland Park and has resided in Broward County since 2007. He brings a fresh approach to the City Commission. Mitch, a 2016 Oakland Park Local Government Academy graduate, serves as founding President of the Neighborhood Coalition of Oakland Park and as founding President of the Corals of Oakland Park Neighborhood Association. He volunteers with Tree Giveaways, Sandbag Saturdays and Waterway Clean-Ups and previously served on the Arts and Culture Board and worked with the Vulnerable Population Registry.
Mitch is a member of the Oakland Park Kiwanis Club and the National Association of Social Workers. Originally from Maryland, Mitch earned his Masters and PhD in Social Work from University of Maryland and his Masters in Sociology from Syracuse University. Currently, he is a Professor of Social Work at Barry University in Miami Shores and a Florida Licensed Clinical Social Worker.
Mitch is Past President of the National Association of Social Workers Florida Chapter. He served as a volunteer Guardian ad Litem (working with youth in child welfare), volunteered with the Broward Partnership for Homeless shelter in Fort Lauderdale, and worked part-time with men affected by cancer at Gilda’s Club in Fort Lauderdale. He has published and presented on child welfare, political diversity, and LGBTQ issues.
