I have called Broward County home since 2007, and serving this community has been the greatest honor of my life. In 2020, I was elected as a citywide Oakland Park Commissioner, and in 2023 I was sworn in as Mayor. In August 2024, the people of House District 98 elected me to serve as their State Representative in Tallahassee, and I am grateful for that trust every single day.

As your State Representative, I am fighting for the issues that matter most to our community. I serve on the Health and Human Services Committee, the Health Professions and Programs Subcommittee, the Careers and Workforce Subcommittee, the Government Operations Subcommittee, and the Health Care Budget Subcommittee. Through this work, I am pushing for lower property insurance costs, expanded affordable housing, and better healthcare access for our seniors.

During my years as Mayor and Commissioner in Oakland Park, I worked tirelessly to be a voice for residents, leading initiatives on affordable housing and community wellness. My values in office have always been anchored in neighborhood integrity, smart growth, environmental sustainability, and diversity. I carry those same values with me to Tallahassee every day.

Originally from Maryland, I earned graduate degrees from the University of Maryland and Syracuse University. I currently serve as Director of Doctoral Studies and Professor of Social Work at Barry University. As a licensed social worker, I have worked with clients across mental health, child welfare, oncology, LGBTQ services, homelessness, and geriatric care. That experience shapes the policies I fight for in the legislature.

My volunteer work includes serving as Past President of the National Association of Social Workers Florida Chapter, supporting the Broward Guardian ad Litem Program, the Broward Partnership for Homeless, and the Oakland Park Kiwanis Club. I also represent Oakland Park in the Broward League of Cities and the Florida League of Cities.
